About the Position:

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and bookkeeping, along with exceptional organizational and communication skills. The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting activities of our company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the growth of the business.

Responsibilities:

·         Maintain complete and accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and supporting documentation.

·         Prepare and process monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, summaries, and trial balances for internal review.

·         Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.

·         Process payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, remittances, and maintaining employee payroll records in compliance with applicable regulations.

·         Provide guidance and on-the-job training to junior bookkeeping staff, and assist with reviewing work and resolving routine bookkeeping issues.

·         Assist with year-end closing activities and coordinate documentation and schedules for external auditors and accountants.

·         Implement and follow established bookkeeping procedures and internal controls to ensure consistent financial record-keeping.

·         Prepare financial reports and variance summaries to support management decision-making.

·         Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and government reporting obligations.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

·         Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

·         Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a Senior Bookkeeper or in a progressively responsible bookkeeping role within a professional services/accounting and tax consulting environment.

·         Strong knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other accounting software.

·         Demonstrated ability to guide, train, and support junior bookkeeping staff in a professional accounting or tax services environment.

·         Excellent organizational and time management skills.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·         Solid working knowledge of Canadian payroll, HST/GST, and statutory remittance requirements.
