Job Duties
The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations to ensure efficient service, consistent food quality, and compliance with safety standards. Key responsibilities include:
Planning, organizing, and overseeing daily kitchen operations to ensure timely food preparation and service during regular and peak business periods.
Coordinating kitchen workflow across all food stations to maintain consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
Scheduling, supervising, and assigning duties to kitchen staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels based on business volume and operational needs.
Training, guiding, and evaluating kitchen employees on food preparation techniques, food safety practices, and workplace standards.
Monitoring inventory levels, ordering food and kitchen supplies, and ensuring proper storage and stock rotation to control costs and minimize waste.
Enforcing food safety, sanitation, and occupational health and safety regulations in compliance with public health requirements.
Collaborating with ownership and front-of-house management to support menu execution, service efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction.
Supporting performance management by addressing operational issues, maintaining productivity standards, and fostering a positive and professional team environment.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a lead or supervisory kitchen role is required, preferably in a fast-paced bar and grill or pub-style food service environment.
Completion of secondary school is required. Post-secondary education in Culinary Management, such as a Diploma in Culinary Management, is considered a strong asset.
Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety standards, with the ability to ensure compliance.
Proven ability to supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff while maintaining productivity and high food quality standards.
Effective communication and organizational skills to manage workflow and maintain consistent service quality.
Experience managing inventory, food supplies, and kitchen resources to control costs and reduce waste.
Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by business operations.
